A survey of sustainable energy articles on mainstream media.
PRESSENSAVE partners carried out an analysis about public opinion interest in sustainable energy monitoring press articles appeared on daily newspapers and weekly magazine: Corriere della Sera ,Financial Times and The Economist.
The analysis has been carried out on newsletters in the Energy field (and is so called Newsletters Coverage Analysis) generally created by associations of industries. They have been taken from all over Europe and in particular were selected 19 newsletters from 7 different EU countries.
The factors taken into consideration were:
- RES (Renewable Energy Sources) technology distribution (geographically)
- Links between the topics covered into the newsletter and the readers target
- Newsletters chronological development
The analysis result is that, over the last years, the energy context has rapidly changed: oil price influences the percentage of appearance of solar energy and photovoltaic theme (but not wind energy) on the public opinion. This was called environmental sensibility: how much people is concerned with environment and can be assessed by monitoring articles dealing with global change and global warming.
