Enhancing Visibility for EU Sustainable Energy Projects

Integrated Water Management: The Striver Conference - 28/29 May 2009 - Brussels, Belgium

15/05/2009

How can we best use research results in water management? How can the dialogue between science, stakeholders and policy makers be strengthened? What are the lessons learnt and the best tools available in Integrated Water Management?

These questions and many others will be discussed and answered during an international conference in Brussels on 28 and 29 May 2009.

Among the many environmental challenges the world is facing today, one of the most crucial is how our water resources are managed. The European Union is among the leading actors in this field, co-funding and stimulating transboundary cooperation between environmental authorities and other stakeholders.

This two-day event is a unique opportunity for European media to get acquainted with the current state of affairs in integrated water management and with the newest methodologies and research results.

The conference discusses how climate change affects the ways water is managed, tools and methodologies for integrated water management, how to involve stakeholders and make the public an active participant; it also presents a number of scenarios for successful water management and it brings together a long list of international water organisations as well as universities and research institutions.

45 presentations will be given during the two days, covering all aspects of water management. Results of the EU-funded research project Striver will be presented and discussed.

The event takes place at Club of the University Foundation, rue d’Egmont 11, 1000 Brussels, Belgium.
